The warmer weather means lots of parties in our future. We especially love going to carnival-themed parties for little kids, because they usually mean lots of junk food and fun! That being said, we can have our own party with the Waring Popcorn Machine & Trolley. Available at horchow.com for only ($199).
These Lited Ice Cubes won’t actually keep our drinks cold, but they will certainly make it look like we’re drinking the coolest martinis at the party. Each light-up cube is fully submersible, which means – once you wash them – you can plop them into whatever beverage you choose, or really freak out your goldfish*. Available at sparklers-incyberspace.com for only $34
Having a keg at your party scores you serious cool points. Keeping your keg in a questionably clean trash can and/or kiddy pool takes away a significant number of those points. If you’re prone to having barrels of beer at your parties, it might be time to invest in a Kegskin. This neoprene sleeve has zippers to fit most kegs and is basically a giant Koozie, keeping your beer cold without the hassle of buying ice and finding a container large enough to hold a keg. For an extra ten bucks, you can get it customized. Ours would say Party All the Time. Available at keg-skins.com for only $40
We thought the nude pump couldn’t get any better. We were so, so wrong. Ann Taylor showed us when they busted out this to die for Calla Sequin Peeptoe Platform . We might have to cut off all of our toes to fit into the size 7s that are left, but we’re pretty sure it’s worth it! Get this at Anntaylor.com for only $140 on sale.
When we think of Kate Spade, we think refined and preppy. We don’t think of the Beastie Boys. Despite the fact that the two icons don’t seem to mesh, this No Sleep Till Brooklyn Bangle is pretty fantastic. Literally, it’s pretty and fantastic. It’s the one piece of jewelry we wish we’d had when we were 15 and were trying to impress the first guy we had a crush on while still staying true to the preppy girl we are at heart. Available at katespade.com ($88)
A few great soapstone workers in Perkinsville, Vermont have created Whiskey Stones. These little ice-imitators are specially designed to put a slight chill in your Whiskey.
All you do is put them in the freezer for a few hours and then pop a couple into a glass of single malt. Once you’re done, rinse, dry and do it all over again! And no need to worry about a watery drink, because these stones don’t dilute (that’s the best part). Dylan Thomas would’ve loved these things. We hope you will too, available at Think Geek at $14.99 only.
The DIY Juice to Alcohol Kit is a simple little kit. First, you just have to get yourself a 64oz bottle of juice. Then pour in a packet of the DIY Juice to Alcohol Kit‘s yeast and pop the airlock top on.
Inside the juice, the yeast will begin its sweet, sweet science – it will convert the fructose of the juice into alcohol and carbonation. Within 48 hours (you can start tasting after 24), you’ll have your very own alcoholic beverage. Available at Think geek at $9.99
This fitted sheath from Tadashi Shoji features crisscrossing contrast stripes for a strikingly modern design. Available at www1.bloomingdales.com for $410
These designs aren’t charting any new fashion territory, but like Diane von Furstenberg’s Lytton Minaudieres, they’re filling an important void in the market – non-formal evening bags at a contemporary price point.
You don’t have to wait for a gala to carry these designs, just your next night out, but they’re a slightly more streamlined option than your average clutch. That also means you have to be careful what you pack, but at seven inches wide, these box clutches are bigger in person than you’d expect.
These are available at ShopBop
